How to keep food alive in a survival situation

The best way to preserve food in a long-term emergency is by drying it. Drying foods makes them last for longer and removes moisture. It also decreases the risk of bacteria growth.

Because they don't need to be prepared, dried fruits are ideal for snacking during emergencies. You can take them with you and eat as many as you wish without worrying about weight gain.

Although you can dry fruits at home with a dehydrator or oven, a solar oven is a better option. To dry any type of food, you could use a sun oven, such as meats, fish, vegetables and grains.
